Walla Walla is in a desert- yet, somehow Whitman's campus is green and full of spring growth. Unnatural, yes, but also beautiful and peaceful. Today, I enjoyed reading "People of the Book," by Geraldine Brooks, while sitting criss-cross applesauce next to a series of waterfalls next to the Admissions house.
